Message from the Director

Sleep and circadian rhythms are fundamental biological processes that shape health at every stage of life and across all populations — including minority and underserved communities, older adults, children, pregnant women, and individuals of low socioeconomic status. An estimated 50 to 70 million Americans live with a chronic sleep or circadian disorder, and disrupted sleep takes a direct and lasting toll on health and well-being.

Working alongside a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team of researchers, we are advancing sleep and circadian science on many fronts through rigorous, high-quality research. Throughout this site you will find detailed descriptions of each laboratory and its work, with links to the individual investigators. We warmly invite you to join us on this journey and to support our mission to unravel the mysteries of sleep and circadian science — knowledge that can benefit a wide range of organ systems and conditions, from Alzheimer’s disease to obesity, and from cancer to heart disease.
